Sourcing & Selecting Wines for Planet X
Over this past springtime my wife Olly and I attended several large trade wine tastings and sampled hundreds of wines. We sought to select wines for the Planet X Cafe’ wine list from regions around the world that best exemplify and celebrate specific grape varietals. To that end, we serve a luscious Anselmann Gewurztraminer from the renowned Pfalz region of Germany, a spicy ripe wine that epitomizes the varietal. We serve Babich Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand, King Estate Pinot Gris from Oregon, Sanford Chardonnay from Santa Barbara, Layer Cake Malbec from Argentina, and Avalon Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley — all global benchmark wines. Our vineyards use best practices for agricultural sustainability, consistent with Justine’s long held philosophy of using organic and locally grown products.
