Best Way to Straighten Hair

Thursday, September 11th, 2008 - 1:16 am

Straight, curly, shiny, and sleek, are just some of the styles being sought after by woman all over the world. We live in a society where it’s no longer what you wear but the style of your hair, and whether it is flipped to the left, right, ringlets, or diagonal it speaks volumes about your look and the way you feel. No wonder that hair straighteners, curling irons, or tongs have been more popular than ever.

Best way to straighten hairThere are many good hair straightening products on the market that include brand names such as GHD, and Sedu hair straighteners all claiming the use of various features such as Auto-on/Auto-off, tourmaline technology, ceramic plates, and heated curves. With all this in mind the SPX Beauty Company developed a hair straightener that would provide the best of these features and offer the user a superior beauty product at an affordable price.

The SPX Evolution Styler went into production in 2008 and will be released end of October 2008. Packed with specialist features that include:

Tourmaline Mineral for Infrared ion heat distribution

Adjustable temperature control

Ceramic plates for ultra smooth hair

While a lot of companies claim their hair straightening products have ceramic plates but are in actual fact are lightly ‘ceramic coated’ which is far different from the solid ceramic coating type. Coatings of ceramic will wear thin quickly and as a result will cause damage to the hair because of the uneven distribution of heat and the plates becoming too hot.
The SPX uses ceramic with solid plates that distribute heat evenly and providing a straight and sleek style to the most difficult of hair, while giving a healthy shine and sleek look when used with the appropriate hair products.

How to straighten hair with ghd hair stylers

When it comes to the actual technique used to straighten hair, each company basically gives the same advice while recommending you use their products. For example GHD provides the following tips for the best way to straighten hair:

GHD Hair Straightening Style Guide

  • Apply ghd thermal protector for weak and damaged hair, and blow-dry using a small amount of ghd fat hair lotion to give extra volume.
  • Use your fingers to divide the hair into sections. Take one of the sections and insert the ghd IV styler horizontally, close to the root.
  • Gently close the ghd IV styler, you don’t need a lot of tension the heat of the styler will do the work for you.
  • Slowly glide the styler down the section. You can use a comb in front to help guide the hair, until you reach the end.
  • The finer the section, the closer to the root the styler will be.
  • For that final high-gloss shine, lightly spray the hair all over with a fine mist of ghd reflection spray.

Choosing the SPX evolution Hair Straightener is your first step in the creation of beautiful hair. There are many styles and techniques that will get you on the way to your new look. At SPX Beauty we recommend the following to achieve beautiful straight hair and the following instructions are just one of the many styling techniques to get you started.

  • Shampoo & condition the hair.
  • Apply your favourite thermal protection/ or serum to your hair.
  • Dry your hair thoroughly while brushing it through.
  • Use hair holding clips to section and hold your hair into place.
  • Starting at the front of your scalp use the SPX down the length of your hair in a smooth motion.
  • Use the same method as above and continue around the circumference of your head. Work your way down until all hair is straightened.

Hair Straightening Temperatures

Again this is an area that can be confusing for most people as different manufacturers will give conflicting advice.

We recommend the following temperatures as a guideline forstraightening hair:

For people with fine, thin, or fragile hair should always use a lower temperature, high temperatures will burn or damage the hair. It should be noted that hair straightening should be left to every two days and preferably three days.

Medium to thicker hair can use much higher temperatures; the best way is to try various heating temperatures with small sections of your hair until you reach the desired level you are comfortable with.

Purchasing a hair straightener

Like most products there are good and bad versions, the hair straightening market is no exception. You only to have look on some of the online auctions and affiliate advertising websites to see scores of badly manufactured, and horribly branded hair products. This includes stylers, hair tongs, and other beauty products that all claim they use the latest technologies and their product matches the market leaders. Sadly their claims fall short of reality, and one should be aware when they are purchasing their hair iron to take several factors into consideration, one of the more important factors is the heating element that causes the plates of the hair straightener to get hot. If there is no temperature control there is a good chance that over time the plate will start to lose its ceramic coating and the heating will be unevenly hotter in parts of the plate and lower temperatures in other parts. Uneven heat distribution can cause damage to the hair and scalp.

Quality vs. Price

It’s not always true that ‘you get what you pay for’ some of the more expensive hair straighteners have relied solely on brand recognition to leverage higher prices for their hair straightening products, other such as GHD, and SEDU have a deservedly strong brand reputation, and leverage price on their brand recognition. In actual fact to produce one pair of hair straighteners (in bulk) is considerably a lot cheaper than the major brands let on.

Jolie Hair Straighteners

Four years ago SPX Beauty decided to develop a pair of hair straighteners strictly for the online auction market that included eBay, and Amazon. We felt that we could compete in this area by bringing to market hair stylers that were equally as good, if not better than some of the major brands. We studied the technologies that went into producing the perfect hair straightener for our Jolie brand. Jolie as previously mentioned was built exclusively for the online auction market and various sellers have had success with Jolie Hair Straighteners over the last four years.

A year and a half ago we re-developed Jolie to be cost-effective and utilize more advanced technologies including solid ceramic plates, tourmaline, and sleep-mode, auto off while not sacrificing style or usability.

Jolie Hair Straighteners

The Jolie Hair Straightener has met with success amongst eBay sellers and buyers alike, this has given us the leeway to produce our next hair straightener the SPX Evolution that will go to the main consumer market. The new hair straightener will compete with the major brands online, and utilize the most appropriate technologies such as tourmaline, and plates with a stronger ceramic coating that distributes infrared heat more evenly and last longer. The SPX will go sale towards the end of October. Bookmark us now or see our blog at myJournal to keep updated with latest news on the release of SPX Evolution Hair Styler
